"I have been with Nailsworth band since 2016. Before that I conducted Pillowell Silver Band taking them from the Fourth Section to the Third. I also conducted the A. W. Parker (Drybrook) Band, taking them from the Fourth Section to the Second Section, claiming a runner-up prize at the Area contest.
I have played in some on the best bands in the world including Sun Life Stanshawe, Tredegar, Grimethorpe Colliery, Flowers Band and Tongwynlais Temperance.
In Nailsworth, there is a high level of commitment to the group, which reflects the team spirit and feeling of belonging to something great; a real feeling of shared pride and a sense of direction. We have a full band in attendance for almost every rehearsal. The standard of the band is constantly improving. It is obvious that players are practicing frequently, especially on the test pieces. I am certain that musical standards will continue to achieve great things.
We have welcomed new players over the past couple of years and they are settling in nicely. There is always support from players around them, and the odd chuckle when something doesn't go exactly to plan."
